The men, all from South Dakota, had been accused of sexual assaults during an incident at a bar in Sioux Falls in June 2015.

Rhodes County prosecutors announced that John Wesley Bates and Scott Tackett have been sentenced to between nine and 11 years in prison.

Their attorney, Michael Rochon of Sioux Falls, said during the sentencing hearing that Bates was the oldest of two brothers who lived in South Dakota. Tackett is the oldest of four brothers.

She described her attacker as 5 feet 8 inches and 260 pounds with a skinny build. He was balding, her friends told the judge.

Bates is the uncle of one of the women involved in the case, Tuckett’s attorney, Rochon said.
